Gone were the days when Airtel only wanted to express itself. With the enhancement of Digital Industry, Airtel and other cellular companies witnessed the boom with the entry of Jio. Jio shattered the idea of cost vs Internet Quality which triggered the war of survival's stake. Let's not forget that Indian Cellular market witnessed the amalgamation of two big Giants in order to curb the growth of Reliance Jio. The second boom or rather Bonanza of entertainment saw the huge lofty lap by seeing Web Series market like Amazon Prime and Netflix.

Airtel has come up with an idea to make the entertainment domain for the public to get a new dimension. To channelize the market and shift the Streaming market into its pocket, Airtel decided to launch XStream Box. The box will unveil and unleash which has stuck a role, to filter the best of the best comes out in the sight of people.

Bharti Airtel on Monday, September 2, 2019, launched its converged digital entertainment play platform Airtel Xstream in India. Apart from launching the Airtel Xstream app and web platform in India, the telecom operator also launched the Airtel Xstream Box and the Airtel Xstream Stick in India.

Before launching this product, Airtel tapped the Indian Streaming market like Voot, Zee5, Eros Now and Hungama Play to provide the content. Airtel confirmed that the best experience will give best when the user interface has that level of sophistication which can mesmerize the public to reach new horizons. Airtel simply revamped the Airtel TV app version by injecting more than 400 channels and 10,000+ movies. To access the content Airtel has allowed to provide access to the public through Airtel Xstream website to check the quality of content.

From the words of Adarsh Nair, it is very clear that Airtel Xstream will cater to needs of a new generation of consumers who are looking for seamless and converged entertainment across multiple screens at home and on the go. He sees the way Digital India has behaved by transforming the way content is being consumed over internet-connected devices.

The Airtel Xstream app is the rebranded version of Airtel TV. According to Airtel, the redesigned version focusses more on content and content suggestions and brings an attractive user interface. t provides access to 400 live TV channels, as well as over 10,000 movies and shows. Airtel Xstream app subscribers can also access services on the Web, by visiting Airtelxstream.in.

Airtel Xstream vs Jio Fiber

We have seen that this month Reliance Jio commercially launched Jio Fiber plans. When we talk about comparing both the services, Airtel has two devices, a 4K Xstream set-top-box, and an Xstream stick and, on the other hand, Jio is offering multiple services with a single device. With the Jio Fiber package, customers will get broadband service with the set-top-box, free voice calling all over India, TV video calling and video conferencing facility, a smart home connectivity platform, a dedicated gaming service, AR and VR capabilities, subscription to all streaming apps and more.

It is clear that both the services are different and the way they are being offered aims at different customer base. Also, looking closely makes me understand that what Airtel is offering is only a part that is being offered by Reliance Jio. However, in India, price plays an integral part when we talk about such services.

Let me know in the comments what would you opt, Jio or Airtel and which do you think can provide you better services.

    1. Jio is on the expensive side, if you already using a cheaper broadband, stay with that and use Xstream app on your smartphone. Go with the set-top-box if you are an existing Airtel customer.
