Launching On September 5 - Jio GigaFiber, Jio Set-Top Box and More - 100 Mbps Plan At Rs....

At the 42nd Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Reliance Industries, Mukesh Ambani, Managing Director and Chairman of Reliance Industries, on Monday, made some exciting announcements about its Jio Gigafiber Broadband Service. 

JIO GigaFiber Plans

After all the rumors and anticipation, Jio Gigafiber will launch commercially on 5th September this year. The basic plan will start at Rs 700 and will go up to Rs 10000 a month. The basic plan speed will start at 100Mbps and premium plan speed will go up to 1Gbps. 

Like its cellular service, Jio GigaFiber will offer free voice with its broadband. Jio will also provide unlimited ISD calling service to the US and Canada from Jio landline at a fixed monthly rental of Rs. 500.

Jio GigaFiber plans will come bundled with a subscription to many OTT apps like Netflix and Hotstar which will allow users to watch multimedia content over the internet. In addition to this, the company also plans to launch a premium service that will enable customers to watch brand new movies at home on the same day they are released in theatres.

Jio Welcome Offer - How To LED TV?

This is Jio dhamaka, there is a ‘Welcome Offer’ for new subscribers, Jio will offer a full HD TV or a Home PC, along with a 4k set-top box. This offer is only valid for those who will be subscribing to the ‘Jio Forever plan’, Mukesh Ambani said.

Jio and Microsoft

Mukesh Ambani had a special announcement for startups. Company has now a long term alliance with Microsoft which will speed up the digital transformation of the nation with the launch of new cloud data centers. According to Mukesh Ambani, Jio will provide connectivity and the Jio-Azure cloud service to Indian technology startups for free and, offer a bundle of connectivity and essential business productivity and automation tools to Indian small businesses starting at just Rs. 1,500 per month.

Mukesh Ambani also revealed that the Jio GigaFiber IoT (Internet of Things) platform will be commercially available from January 1, 2020. He said that in 2 years, it is estimated there will be 2 billion connected IoT devices in India, and Jio aims to connect over 1 billion IoT devices. The company is looking to get revenue from home, enterprise, and MSME broadband services in India.

Jio Set-Top Box

Talking about the set-top box, Ambani said that it is designed to accept signal from Local Cable Operator partners. Jio Set-Top Box will enable newer entertainment and gaming experiences. Jio Set Top Box is capable of delivering console-like gaming using Jio Fiber service. The company also demonstrated its developments towards mixed reality (MR).
