Nation's Largest Telecom Operator Loses Over 6 Million Subscribers in last November - COAI

According to Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI), the monthly subscribers figure report revealed that Vodafone-Idea has continued to lose its subscribers base for the third consecutive month. The report also revealed that the second largest telecom operator Bharti Airtel added over 100,000 subscribers during the same period. As of November 2018, the total number of mobile subscribers in the country is 1.2 Billion. The report did not capture the figures of Mukesh Ambani's owned Reliance JIO. This also happened for MTNL, BSNL, RCom, and TATA.

After the merger, Vodafone-Idea has the largest number of customer base with a total number of 421.08 Million of which Vodafone has 215.99 Million and Idea has 205. 09 Million. Airtel stood on the second spot with 314.76 Million subscribers count and JIO was third with 262.75 Million subscribers.

Even though Vodafone-Idea has the largest number of the customer base, if it continues to lose the subscribers at the same pace, it could be dangerous for the company. August was the last month when Vodafone added any subscriber. According to COAI data, Vodafone added 1.14 Million subscribers in the same month.

I have heard from many of my friends about the poor network connections and 4G speeds. The quality of calls and call drops are still a serious problem in our country which has such large numbers of mobile users. TRAI should also look in this direction because many users are facing such problems, and switching operators are also not going to solve this now because the call and network quality are almost same for all the telecom operators in the nation.
